The Arsenal forward had been called-up to cover for the injured Anthony Martial but will now not feature against Netherlands and Uruguay.

Didier Deschamps has replaced the pair with Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko and Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.

Premier League stars Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Benjamin Mendy will miss France's key Nations League fixture against the Netherlands and the Uruguay friendly through injury, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced on Monday.

However, they did confirm that Manchester City full-back Mendy has suffered "a sprained left knee and a meniscal injury" and will return to his club for treatment.

Lacazette's last cap came in November 2017's draw to Germany and Sissoko has not featured in an worldwide game since the victory over Belarus last October.

Despite his impressive form for Arsenal this season, Lacazette was not named in France's initial squad.

The Frenchman last played for Les Bleus in November 2017, when he scored a brace in a friendly against Germany, though he was rather surprisingly left out of subsequent squads - including the side that won the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Speaking about Lacazette in October, Deschamps said: 'It is true that he is having a good early season where he is efficient and effective.

"This does not take away the credit for what he does".

World champions France visit Netherlands in the Nations League on Friday before facing Uruguay in a friendly on November 20.
