As ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin revealed, a meeting was held earlier this week in which Magic Johnson "admonished" Walton for the team's "sluggish start to the season".

"Johnson's aggressive meeting tone circulated to individuals throughout the organization, including to principal owner Jeanie Buss, league sources said".

Although the 3-5 start is far from ideal, one big issue is the team losing close games.

The tense meeting highlighted Walton's tenuous job security and showed the need for the Lakers to find success soon in order to avoid changes, ESPN reported.

Buss has been one of Walton's most solid supporters since Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka assumed control of operations in 2017.

LeBron James says he is tuning it all out. "We know where we're going, we know how to get there, and it takes time and it takes hard work".

According to National Basketball Association insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin, Magic Johnson "admonished" Walton over the Lake-Show's sluggish start. We've had a couple setbacks with some suspensions, but we've played some good teams and we've had a chance to win a lot of those games. Johnson cited James' slow starts when he first joined the Miami Heat and returned to Cleveland and said he told Walton not to worry if there was a rocky start in Los Angeles. "This is something we do all the time". Acquiring a player widely considered to be the best in the business in LeBron James and having the face of the Lakers, Magic Johnson, running the front office has brought an air of pressure that the young players haven't experienced. "We know this is going to happen".
