A Florida teenager has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder after he allegedly strangled his mother to death and buried her in a church fire pit after an argument about his D grade, according to police.

Gregory's two friends, both 17-years-old, are facing charges of being accessories to a crime after the fact, authorities said.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood told reporters the boy was a "soulless" sociopath. The boy initially told deputies his mother was missing.

"He used his bare hands, which by his estimate, it took him 30 minutes to kill her", he said.

"He then got home and made his, in his own words, "Grammy-winning phone call to 911" to talk about this disgusting incident that did not really occur", Chitwood said.

They are said to have argued over a grade Ramos received at a study program he was participating in, with the teen going to his room at the family's home in Daytona Beach, Florida, afterwards.

Arriving home, Ramos placed what he called a "Grammy-winning" 911 call to report the burglary, using classes he took in criminal justice at University High to try and give a flavor of truth to his lies.

Chitwood said Ramos admitted to strangling his mother to death Friday morning after an argument over a grade.

"Then got home and made in his words a call to 911 to talk about this terrible incident that did not really occur", Chitwood added. "By all accounts she was an fantastic human being", Chitwood said.

Cleavenger returned home Friday night to discover his wife was missing, before Ramos confessed to killing her early on Saturday.

After taking down Ramos's confession on Saturday, authorities went to the fire pit and exhumed Gail's body.

The sheriff said the case has been one of the most disturbing and saddest he has encountered.

"We would come home and sit in the driveway and talk about our kids having driver's license finally, and all that kind of stuff", Hackett said. All our hearts break for this family.

But deputies who arrived at the scene were suspicious of Ramos' demeanor and allegedly got him to confess to the crime during an interrogation.
