A dead brothel owner has won a seat in the Nevada state assembly at the USA midterm elections. Add Midterm Elections as an interest to stay up to date on the latest Midterm Elections news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

"Under state law, the value of the votes from each county commission will be weighted to match the population distribution of each county within the assembly district as of the last US census", Clark County said.

Dennis Hof owner of the "Moonlite Bunny Ranch" attends Exxotica Day 1 at New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center on November 13, 2015 in Edison, N.J.

His name was Dennis Hof, and he styled himself after President Trump.

"There are a lot of Republicans who were uncomfortable voting for Dennis because of the nature of his business, and they now know that he is not the one who will be serving", the campaign manager, Chuck Muth, told Reuters. He also starred in the HBO adult reality series Cathouse and wrote a book titled The Art of the Pimp, akin to Trump's book The Art of the Deal.

His body was discovered by friend and porn star Ron Jeremy at the brothel near Pahrump, reportedly after days of partying.

About 20 brothels operate in Nevada, mostly in rural areas.

Mr Hof's campaign manager Chuck Muth said election day was "bittersweet".

Follow his death, an official statement said: "It is with great sadness and tremendous shock to announce that Dennis Hof, 72, passed away sometime this morning (October 16, 2018) in his sleep at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada". The Love Ranch brothel that Hof owned became notorious as the place where former Laker Lamar Odom was found unconscious in 2015.

He said he faced political retribution this year in the form of an anti-brothel push and regulatory problems.

Nevada's 36th Assembly District has always been a Republican-held seat.

Hof said earlier this year that Trump's 2016 victory helped inspire him to run for office this year.
