They inserted a tracheal tube to clear his airway and gave the rocker oxygen.

Perry got up on stage to perform the Aerosmith classic "Walk This Way" with Joel and his band.

The good news is he's apparently doing well in the hospital right now, though, and he could be discharged as early as Sunday afternoon, per those sources. "This morning Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive". A spokesperson for Perry said he will not appear at a scheduled performance Sunday in Florida but is expected to return to the road later this month.

According to TMZ, which first reported the news, Perry has been experiencing breathing issues for weeks, reportedly stemming from congestion in his lungs, which all came to a head at the show Saturday.

In 2016 Perry had a similar incident where he collapsed backstage. At the time, he was performing with the Hollywood Vampires, another rock group he formed with Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper.

The 68-year-old Perry had recently announced a new single and solo tour. Perry and Aerosmith co-founder and lead singer Steven Tyler are set to begin an Aerosmith residency with the crew in Las Vegas starting in April 2019. So here's to hoping that Perry and his health will have what it takes to make those upcoming gigs.
