What David Price Envisioned Night Before Dominant Start In ALCS Game 5

With the Astros trailing the Red Sox by two runs in the bottom of the first inning, Jose Altuve hit a ball that wound up over the wall in right field, tying the game.

"Boston is a ideal 5-0 in road games this postseason, with two wins in NY in the ALDS and three in Houston in the ALCS", notes CBSSports.com's Katherine Acquavella.

The Red Sox ended up by winning four straight games to win the ALCS and advance to the World Series against the Dodgers or Brewers.

Boston's pitchers held the Houston Astros to just five hits, and Red Sox third-baseman Rafael Devers continued his surprising postseason with a three-run homerun Thursday night as the Red Sox won the American League Championship Series. Astros hitters made contact with only 12 of those 38 change-ups and they had an average exit velocity of 72 miles per hour - quite weak.

The Red Sox were the best hitting team in a great hitting American League this year.

Whether it's because he drove the Astros' lineup all season, or because he drove their media coverage, or because he was never afraid to say what the rest of his team was thinking, Bregman was conspicuous in the disappearance of Houston's offense over the series' final three games, during which the Astros scored just nine runs.

J.D. Martinez and a group of his Red Sox teammates, ski goggles and champagne in tow, were ready to make a memory. While fans will miss out on more playoff excellence from Springer, he finished the season on a high note.

"That was very, very special, absolutely", Price said after the game.

Bregman deleted the videos, but apparently not before the people behind the Red Sox' official Twitter account took notice.

On his 43rd birthday, at the expense of the club he won a title with a year ago and in his first season as a big league manager, Alex Cora is going back to the Fall Classic.

After the bad call in game four that robbed Altuve and the Astros of a two-run home run, fans didn't take any chances in game five. Boston would then be facing Justin Verlander in Game 5 with David Price on the mound, a recipe to fall behind in the series and be on the brink of elimination.

Three innings later and Boston went deep on Verlander again.

Martinez reached the World Series by beating the team that released him during spring training four years ago.

Coming into Thursday's game Price had a career 6-2 record with a 2.94 ERA against the Astros.

Devers connected in the sixth for a 4-0 lead.

So who wins every playoff game? He only allowed one base runner, a big improvement, before getting Tony Kemp to fly out to Andrew Benintendi in left field to end the series and wrap up the AL pennant. It's got to be Troy Caldwell, thanks to a controversial moment from Wednesday night's game against the Red Sox. Bregman's misfortune captures one big reason why Houston's season is over.
