Vice President Mike Pence echoed Trump's accusations during a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC on October 4, saying that China is trying to influence American public opinion in the 2018 and 2020 elections because, "Trump's leadership is working, and China wants a different American president". "I'm not a baby, I know all these things", Trump countered, before explaining: "I get along with him really well".

"I don't pledge anything", Trump said.

"You see, Chinese media, they are just learning from America media to use all these means, to buy commercial pages from newspapers, to make their views known or to cover what is happening here", Cui said.

He also complained about a recent incident in which a U.S. navy ship, in a so-called "freedom of navigation" exercise, sailed close to a disputed island claimed by China in the South China Sea. "In the not-too-distant future, I think we'll know an answer". But [I] will tell you, I have no intention of doing that. I don't think it's a hoax....

He agreed, however, with Trump's statement that the two leaders had a "very tough" meeting in Finland in July in terms of the "irritants" in relations discussed.

"I'm president and you're not", Trump explained. "Look at the terrible threats that were made".

Mr. Trump questioned the very proposition that he called Russian Federation to help him in the elections.

Trump promised there would be "SEVERE PUNISHMENT" FOR THE SAUDIS if Saudi Arabia is found to be behind journalist Jamal Khashoggi's disappearance - though he seems loathe to impose meaningful sanctions, especially when it comes to reneging on a sizeable military equipment contract. "Michael", Stahl had to ask who "they" are. "As of this moment, they deny it". "Boeing, Lockheed, Raytheon, all these [companies]-I don't want to hurt jobs", he said.

Trump has begun accusing China of meddling in United States elections only recently and in connection with Beijing's selective targeting of his voter-base for retaliatory measures against tariffs imposed by Trump on Chinese imports. Asked if he believed that Mr Putin orders assassinations and poisonings of political foes, Mr Trump said: "Probably he is, yeah. They wouldn't be able to help me at all".

Curiously, he denied to Stahl that he ever said he was engaged in a trade war with China, even though he has said and tweeted it many times, including on Fox News last week.
