Brees will go down as one of the best quarterbacks EVER to play the game. And you've ruined that for me.

"Also, let this serve as the congratulations for the touchdown record, because as you can see, I am very busy". Brees threw his 498th touchdown pass on the 62-yard throw to Tre'Quan Smith on the play on which the quarterback moved past Manning.

In a congratulatory video posted on the Denver Broncos official Twitter, a short video shows Manning chopping tomatoes while lamenting his lost record.

Naturally, plenty of sports figures took to social media to congratulate Brees on Monday night. He actually began the evening third on the all-time list and passed Brett Favre (71,838 yards) on Monday, as well.

Drew Brees has become the NFL's all-time leader in yards passing - and he did it in style. "I'll be able to reflect on it maybe a little bit more when my career is done".

Brees is in his 18th season out of Purdue.

Of the passing-yardage record, Manning said at the time, "He deserves it".

Brees has shredded the National Football League for 18 years, even if his early days in San Diego were rocky at times. He's just been the ultimate pro, taking care of himself, being in great shape. Behind three touchdowns from Brees, New Orleans cruised to a 43-19 win over the Washington Redskins. "I've gotta tell ya, it's been the greatest 1,000 days of my life", Manning says in the video.
