Sanchez, who endured a hard start to the new season, has scored three goals for United in all competitions so far.

"It really pleased me to hear Adil say that", Pogba told AFP.

"I would have said "no, that's not something to say because you're not the manager".

Pogba made his France debut in 2013, and has racked up 62 caps while appearing at three major tournaments.

The 25-year-old was at the heart of Didier Deschamps' triumphant side in Russian Federation but returned to a hard situation at United after being dropped from Jose Mourinho's starting XI towards the end of last season.

Lloris is the other member of Didier Deschamps' triumphant squad nominated while Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, an outcast at global level, made it a seventh Frenchman on list for the award. "I was the go-between you could say".

France face Iceland in a friendly in Guingamp on Thursday and resume their Nations League campaign with a return clash at home to Germany on October 16, following a 0-0 draw in Munich last month.

Pogba believes being in the World Cup-winning France team is in itself a big achievement and he never plays to get the armband.

He said the France captaincy was not one of his main goals. As a leader you can talk on the pitch, but I have seen leaders who do not necessarily speak.

Prior to the World Cup, Pogba had stated his ambition of stepping up his role within the France squad, and he was credited by teammates with having given a number of inspirational dressing room speeches during Les Bleus' summer triumph.

"They help me a lot to adapt and in everything, to learn English. But I hope with all my heart that it's one of the four, because there is [also] NG [N'Golo Kante]".
