Major League Baseball fines Machado for brush with Aguilar

The incident in question occurred in the 10th inning Tuesday after Machado dragged his left foot into Aguilar's back leg during a routine play at first base.

"It absolutely is. I have a lot of respect for him as a player, but you can't respect someone who plays the game like that". "One time is an accident". "I'm not hurt, there's no excuse but I've been the same player".

This isn't the first time he's created controversy in the series either.

Yelich wasn't done. When he wrapped up his comments, he was heard using some, let's say, colorful language to describe Machado, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. "I try to go out there and win for my team".

Travis Shaw was among the players who joined Yelich in calling Machado "dirty" in his play. With two runners on and one out in the first, Machado went to the plate and, as is customary with a player's first at-bat of the game, said hello to home-plate umpire Jim Wolf.

"It's a beauty pageant".

Again Counsell tried to downplay all the Manny stuff before the game Wednesday saying, "We all want something to talk about and you guys do, too". "You don't want four, five owners to sit around and say, 'Hey, dude, you see what Manny did?"

Manny Machado caused the benches to clear in Game 4 of the NLCS Tuesday night with a play that had Brewers players seeing red, but the Dodgers star does not seem concerned about the opinion of his opponents.

Machado, whose late slide past year injured Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia, has been checked a couple times in this NLCS because of close slides into second.

Of course, if Machado were having a bad postseason, it would be easier to make all of the criticism stick, but he leads all postseason hitters with nine RBIs and is tied with three other players for the home run lead (three). Machado got his spikes into Pedroia's left ankle and knee as he slid over the base, and his Orioles had a testy relationship with the Red Sox for the rest of the season. That's two more opportunities for the fireworks to continue between Machado and the Brewers.
