Kevin Garnett shares thoughts on Jimmy Butler situation

Reports claimed that Butler left teammates and coaches speechless after dropping a huge statement in the scrimmage.

"I've got nothing but love for [Antetokounmpo] and his talent, but we let him carve us up too much", Towns said. "You can't win without me", to GM Scott Layden. "People have to understand that it's that path that got him to where he is - how hard he works". "I would say at (Kevin) McHale".

Butler, who has requested a trade, did not play in the Wolves' final preseason game Friday.

The Heat is not pushing to resume discussions with the Timberwolves on a Butler trade, as the Miami Herald reported Thursday.

"The best solution I can think of is a trade but the better solution would be people acting professionally, like Jimmy Butler rejoining the team and actually trying to lift guys up rather than tearing them down".

Where Garnett drew the line was requesting a trade, something he never did despite winning just two playoff series in 12 years with the team.

He said the most alarming thing for him is the way everything went public, and K.G. admitted that there were times in practice when he acted the way Butler did on Wednesday. "Maybe it's never going to happen from this point going forward". Butler then spoke at length with ESPN's Rachel Nichols, discussing his contentious relationship with the team and coaches.

As for George, he said, "Jimmy has a very valid point".

"I think both sides are a little delusional", Garnett said. "It could be", Butler said in the interview.

"We're not going to get into, you guys, for you, your job is the drama", he said.

Karl-Anthony Towns, one target of Butler's critiques during the Wednesday sitdown with Nichols, also sought to downplay the practice in question, saying, "It was just practice".

Especially guys like George and Jimmy Butler, who came into the league around the same time.

While George didn't ask for a trade out of Indianapolis, he did make the Pacers' front office well aware that he wouldn't be returning as a free agent, so the team was motivated to make a deal.
