Google Pixel Slate release date, news and rumors

After the successful launch of its smartphones that year, Google has introduced the new variants of the Pixel line-up - the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL. The Pixel 3 packaging was all legit, and both the device's feel and specs gave a clear impression that it wasn't a fake, not to mention lining up with all the recent leaks.

"In the section below, we have gathered everything we expect from Google's upcoming "#MadeByGoogle" event. The smaller Pixel 3 smartphone is packed with a 5.5-inch FHD+ OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be available first in the U.S. this month, and in 12 more markets including India from November 1.

But a phone is not just about the camera, and this is where I feel the Pixel 3 XL is an evolved Pixel - evolved from Pixel 2 XL to be specific - and not a phone re-invented like the iPhone X or something like Huawei P20 Pro.

There is one area though, where the Pixel 3 XL does seem to be miles ahead of others: the camera performance.

The Pixel 3 and 3 XL will differ in screen size and resolution, battery capacity, weight, and dimensions. They will pack the same flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM.

Over the past few months, nearly everything about the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL has leaked. This new device will ship with stereo speakers, a fingerprint scanner, and a front and rear-facing camera. It appears that users may be able to switch between f/1.8 and f/2.2 apertures. It's the world's first tablet to run on the Chrome operating system.

For photography, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL continues to sport a single lens at the rear which is a 12.2MP lens with wider f/1.8 aperture.

Google is expected to include a Pixelbook Pen with the Slate tablet. That's similar to Amazon's Echo Show and a new Facebook device called Portal.

Google is also expanding the availability of its popular Google Assistant virtual assistant, from six languages a year ago to 16 today. Also, Canadian carrier Freedom Mobile lately revealed that the Pixel 3 64GB storage variant will go on sale at CAD $999 (roughly Rs. 56,900), while its 128GB variant will be available at CAD $1,129 (roughly Rs. 64,300).

Google showed off one especially impressive feature that its Assistant app can perform: Call screening, which can screen a phone call for you if you don't recognize a number. Wireless charging is now the standard feature on top-tier smartphones and Google does not want to get left behind. With Google's focus on digtal well-being comes Family Link which allows to set diital ground rules for the Pixel Slate. The device was not officially confirmed by Google at the time, but was widely tipped to debut at last night's Made By Google event.

Some have suggested it could release wireless Pixelbuds this time around. For instance, we don't know what's under the hood processor, storage or component-wise.
