Financial services jobs 44% more likely to cause stress-related mental illness

Dr Wendy Fernander, president of the Bahamas Pharmaceutical Association, stressed the importance of having good mental health. This week alone, it's estimated about 500,000 Canadians will miss work due to their mental health condition.

Theresa May named Jackie Doyle-Price to the newly created post as representatives of 50 countries gathered in London Wednesday for a mental health summit.

While work is not always the reason someone is experiencing mental health problems in the workplace, 61 percent of United Kingdom employees have experienced poor mental health because of work. Forty percent said those with mental health issues were "crazy/mad/stupid".

This year's theme of world mental health day is 'young people and mental health in the changing world.' The Health Minister further said that the Government of India has implemented the Mental Health Care Act 2017, w.e.f. "What can we do?" which is a click-worthy headline to be sure, but also a thought provoking one.

Starting in 2019, the government will also publish a "State of the Nation" report every year on World Mental Health Day, and recruitment has begun for new mental health support teams in schools.

Psychosocial support can be provided in schools and other community settings and, of course, training for health workers to enable them to detect and manage mental health disorders can be put in place, improved or expanded.
