English Premier League Report, Liverpool v Manchester City, 7 October

Both Liverpool and Manchester City are unbeaten heading into the match at Anfield.

"And Liverpool have to maybe as well beat them for the rest of the league to give belief out there that they can be beaten".

I know we are less than 10 games in, but I welcome the fact that Hearts, Hibs, Livingston and Kilmarnock are all doing well and sitting above the Old Firm.

As I've said, part of the reason for that is the extra games Celtic and Rangers will play in the Europa League on Thursday evenings.

The full-back acknowledges the Reds were not at their best during Wednesday's Champions League tie in Italy as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat.

"Rangers have done that as well over many years with all their successful teams but last night was. wow!"

Asked if people saying Liverpool had worked out how to beat City were correct, Guardiola said: "Good - congratulations".

Guardiola defended Mahrez, who missed a great chance to win the game when he blasted an 86th minute penalty over the bar.

Sure, it may all change in the next four or five games, but something tells me the top five or six will remain tightly bunched until December, at least.

In Sunday's other game, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang each netted twice as a resurgent Arsenal enjoyed a sixth straight league victory with a 5-1 rout of Fulham at Craven Cottage.

"We defended in a lot of moments really good".

"Now we will have three days together until we play City and make the boys aware of what was wrong. Liverpool have started so well, they have the same points us, but we were expecting that all along".

"It's too early to be thinking about the title, we know it is tough to win", said Hazard.

If Liverpool need to restore any confidence, they need only look back at their last three games against City -all wins.

Jurgen Klopp has tended to get the better of Pep Guardiola in their recent battles.

Alisson has had a good start and barring that mishap against Leicester City, he has put in consistent performances.

"You have to be ready, you need a fantastic football team - which thank God I have - with outstanding character, ready to be really courageous, ready to make mistakes".

"I don't think about that (crowd reaction)".

Klopp addressed Keita's fitness situation during his pre-match press conference, putting a shadow of doubt on the midfielder's availability, having not trained since sustaining the problem with his back.
