The England squad in full...

Sancho, 18, is yet to start in the Bundesliga for Dortmund this season but has five assists and one goal in just 125 minutes of league action.

"Because of the injuries the team has got it just gives them an opportunity".

The 19-year-old Mount, a member of Chelsea's FA Youth Cup-winning teams of 2016 and '17, spent last season on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem and is excelling for a Derby side that is bidding for promotion back to the Premier League under Frank Lampard, a former Chelsea player.

Sancho, 18, has been named in a 25-man squad for the Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain alongside fellow first-timers Mason Mount and James Maddison.

"He's dealing with that and excelling", the England manager said.

"I think this aligns with what we've done in the last 18 months, really", said Southgate, who helped bring about the end of Wayne Rooney's global career a year ago.

Boothroyd told Football Paradise: "It's probably a little early for the boys but what we have seen is a strategy evolving that if players do get injured or come out of the first team, Gareth immediately looks at the under-21s".

He was part for the U-17 team that won the 2017 Federation Internationale de Football Association U-17 World Cup but only played in the group stage before he was withdrawn out of the tournament by Borussia Dortmund. We're always conscious of the balance in bringing young players in but we think they are performing well with their clubs and they are confident players. We're playing with a lot of confidence and that's what's setting us apart at the moment. Two of them have returned to the group after injury: Watford's Nathaniel Chalobah and Tottenham's Harry Winks.

"Well, he's had a long period injured at Chelsea a year ago, so that wasn't a reflection on the quality of the player that he hadn't been with us, but he wasn't getting any football, really", Southgate said. "We are only successful because we have an outstanding support team and exciting players, who I believe over the next four years will improve, and I hope the players continue to excite the public". "I am satisfied and proud to be part of this team", Sancho said. But it's also hard work and right now we have a good feeling on the pitch. It's continuity from the squad we picked last month.
