"They couldn't scan the item because it wasn't in the system yet because the release date is on the 9th of October (Same day as the 2018 Google event) but I guess they put it out too early".

It still has a micro USB plug.

If you look closely at the box for the device, it has the same NC2-6A5 model number as the Chromecast (2015), which is why we think this might just be the Bluetooth-enabled model in a new case.

A Reddit user said he purchased a new Chromecast ahead of its launch from a Best Buy store, attaching an image of the unreleased hardware.

Even though we won't be over in NY for the Made By Google event, we understand we'll be able to see these new products on Australian shores pretty quickly, so if your local JB HiFi isn't selling New Chromecasts just yet, it won't be long before they are.

After the initial post, 9to5Google also managed to score pictures of the new Chromecast. The top is no longer glossy and the Chrome logo has been replaced with the G Google logo. There will also be improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity making the content steaming faster and smoother. For the last few months, this new Chromecast has been popping up in FCC databases with an additional Bluetooth feature, and now it looks like it's finally launching.

Redditor GroveStreetHomey posted a picture of the device which he says he was unable to set up as the Google Home app requires an update which is not now available.

Most of the products that Google has to show during their October even have already been exposed, so it will be interesting to see how the company makes their show more interesting to viewers.

The Best Buy employee serving him at the time tried to ring up his order, only to find out that the device wasn't found in the outlet's outgoing sales list.
