The likes of Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante, Kylian Mbappe and Raphael Varane all gave strong performances in Russian Federation, but Griezmann appears to be the leading French candidate for the prize.

Luka Modric, Lionel Messi, Ivan Rakitic, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, Sergio Ramos, Diego Godin, Antoine Griezmann, and Isco, all playing in La Liga, are also on the list, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic of Juventus are the only two representatives from Serie A.

The 25-year-old was part of France's World Cup winning team, scoring a goal in the final against Croatia.

"I cannot designate one".

Paul Pogba might have struggled to replicate his World Cup form with Manchester United, but the French midfielder's performances in Russian Federation mean he has also made the shortlist. But I hope with all my heart that it will be one of the three.

"One of the four also because there is Kante".

The Atletico forward also added just how much it would mean to him if he were to win football's most prestigious individual award later in the year, stating: "For me, it's a dream".

His countryman Griezmann echoed Pogba's sentiment that the 2018 Ballon d'Or should be lifted by a France world champion.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea appears to have missed out on a place on the 30-man shortlist for the 2018 Ballon d'Or.

"In any case, that is how I see it".

France Football announced the 30-man shortlist of the award on Monday, and the victor will be crowned on 3 December. Afterwards, there are votes, opinions, different judgements.

But who does Chelsea winger Hazard think will win the award?
