Once your device has finished installing the iOS 12.1 update, Group FaceTime should appear as an option and it's sure to be popular if you've got a lot of friends, and I mean a lot! FaceTime will automatically detect who the most prominent speakers are using "on-device intelligence". It automatically sizes each person's image depending upon how active they are in the conversation, based on duration of speech, volume and even motion. To solidify 12.1's relevance, over 70 new emoji are on board here.

Messages integration: Group FaceTime is integrated into the Messages app, making it easy to start a Group FaceTime right from a group iMessage chat.

"If people in a conversation have already started a FaceTime session, Messages shows the active call in the conversation list and inside your conversations", said Apple.

United States and European Union carriers have reportedly been briefed to begin deploying eSIM contracts from 30 October, at which time users will be able to download iOS 12.1.

Group calling for FaceTime was first previewed over the summer during Apple's World Wide Developer Conference, but the feature was removed from beta versions of iOS 12 because it was extremely buggy.

As expected, Apple released iOS 12.1 today, adding several new features to the company's mobile operating system. One can tap a specific person's tile and bring them to center as well. The update will bring important features like group FaceTime, dual-SIM support for the new iPhones, over 70 emojis, and a fix for over-smooth selfies. With this, users will be able to conduct FaceTime video calls with up to 32 participants. These include real-time depth control in the camera, letting iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR owners adjust the bokeh of a Portrait Mode photo before you take it.

"Beautifully designed characters for the llama, mosquito, kangaroo and lobster, and new food emoji, including a bagel, salt, cupcake, leafy greens and mango, are now available".

Dual SIM support for the latest iPhone lineup is also coming.
