Apple's metallurgy team has designed a new alloy such that even new MacBook Air is made from 100-percent recycled aluminum, reducing its carbon footprint by 50 percent. It's late to the game, sure, but now that it is here and with the holiday season upon us, Apple is likely going to sell a lot of these in the coming months.

At the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Apple today revealed a new MacBook Air.

The new MacBook Air includes the same 13-inch screen size as the previous model, but it is a higher-resolution Retina display, a feature that fans of the laptop have been requesting for years.

The new MacBook Air also comes with Touch ID, allowing users to unlock the system, authorise online payments and interact with third-party apps.

While we were perusing Apple's new MacBook Air choices on its website, we also clicked around to see if any other products had disappeared or were upgraded.

Speaking of SSDs, you get up to 1.5TB of storage on the new MacBook air, and up to 16GB of RAM.

On this latest MacBook Air, you'll find two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports that both support charging, up to 5K display out and 40Gbps file transfers.

Apple said the MacBook Air is the most-loved laptop from Apple, and the new Air is the flawless device for portable use. The Force Touch trackpad is also 20% larger than before, and the stereo speakers are 20% louder. Its screen has 4 million pixels, says Apple. TouchID will also enable Hey, Siri on the new MacBook Air.

"MacBook truly indicates that truly less can be more", said CEO Tim Cook while unveiling the new MacBook Air. Macbook Air can be ordered starting today and will be available next week at $1199.

Even when it first launched, the MacBook Air display was not almost as sharp as competing rivals in its price bracket: a mere 13.3-inch panel at 1,440 x 900 resolution.

All told, it's a better design in terms of portability, but it doesn't leave much room for power similar to that of what the MacBook Air held against contemporaries of the time. When Steve pulled that Macbook Air out of that envelope, it was clear that things would never be the same. Prices start at $1,199. Since then, Apple has continued to sell the MacBook Air with outdated components.
