Other aspirants include Senate President Bukola Saraki polled 317 votes, immediate past Senate President, Senator David Mark 35 votes, Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo 111 votes, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal 693 votes.

Recall that Mahmoud Ahmed, a brother of Mrs. Buhari alleged that the APC gubernatorial process in Adamawa State was hijacked.

He also commended the role played by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike towards ensuring a successful convention of the PDP in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, Saraki, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Governors Ifeanyi Okowa and Seriake Dickson of Delta and Bayelsa respectively, former governor Peter Obi, chairman, Northern Elders Council (NEC) and Tanko Yakasai have congratulated Atiku on his victory.

A member of the Atiku campaign organisation, who does not want his name in print, said the major decider was the 11th hour support of the candidature of Atiku by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other past generals.

"Our party members have spoken and have nominated you as the candidate for the forthcoming Presidential elections".

The idea, the source said, was to ensure that the former aspirants were able to return to office should they fail to clinch the presidential ticket just as it happened on Sunday.

"This is a victory for all of us".

We always knew from Day 1 that only one candidate would emerge.

While speaking on their manifestos, all the presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated that their drive for the contest was the need to move the nation forward.

Political analysts have already dubbed the emergence of the two formidable candidates as standard bearers of the two mega parties as battle of political Titans.

"I don't think that there is short supply of good material but I wish delegates pick the best of the best who can carry out this assignment of taking over Nigeria and putting us on the right path, who can restructure the country to true federalism; a President with a very wide mind and is well connected and can be trusted among Nigerians".

The successful PDP candidate will represent the party at the 2019 presidential elections and will be slugging it out with President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
