The Apple Watch is inching toward becoming a medical device

Apple appears to have leaked the names of its new iPhone line-up on its website just hours before its live event to launch the products. The XS Max has a 6.5-inch screen, significantly larger than that of the older iPhone 8 Plus, but with the edge-to-edge design of the iPhone X line, the phone's body isn't that much larger.

The three new iPhones may have been the star of Apple's new products launch on Wednesday, but it also announced an update to its popular Apple Watch that introduces some useful real-world benefits.

The iPhone XS features a 5.8-inch OLED display with 2,436 x 1,125 resolution and 458 pixels per inch.

While the glass back might be a problem from a repairing point of view, it does mean that once again both phones will offer wireless charging.

Both come with a dual camera behind them - 12 megapixel and telephoto lens - and a 7-megapixel camera in front.

Apple's new iPhone Xs and Xr models represent the next iteration of the company's previous iPhone X model it debuted past year. Consumer demand for the iPhone has lagged, but the more expensive iPhone X helped drive a 20 percent increase in revenue generated by the smartphone lineup last quarter.

It comes as no surprise that Apple builds on last year's iPhone X to create an updated "S" version, as it does every alternate year. With the XR, which was until recently rumoured to be the XC, the physical home button on iPhones has now officially been consigned to history.

As for the iPhoneXR, the price is €879 and it has a 6.1 inch display.

Will all iPhone XS and XS Max devices receive an eSIM?

The iPhone XS, XS Max and even XR devices that will sell in the Chinese, Hong Kong and Macau markets will receive dual SIM smartphones without eSIM.

The XR features numerous same specifications as the XS duo but has only a single rear camera, an LCD screen - unlike the XS' OLED - and starts at £749 when it goes on sale in October.

To differentiate itself from the iPhone XS series, the XR gets the iPhone 5C treatment with a choice of six colours, namely Blue, White, Black, Yellow, Coral and Red. The XS Max, which looks to be about the size of the iPhone 8 Plus but with a much bigger display, will become the most expensive iPhone ever, starting at $1,099 in the U.S. and €1,249 ($1,452) in Germany. The iPhone Xs starts at $999 for the 64GB version, while the Xs Max will cost $1,099.

Apple released this photo on Weibo of CEO Tim Cook (right) and chief designer Jony Ive looking at the iPhone XR.

Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Watch Series 4. The edges are noticeably rounder, though it still retains the square look.

In addition, Apple says the Series 4 Apple Watch will also be able to detect when someone falls - and can tell the difference between a trip and a fall.

"Apple Watch Series 4 is the ultimate guardian for your health, the best fitness companion, and the most convenient way to stay connected", Apple COO Jeff Williams during the press conference.
