City's record-breaking campaign last season owed much to the class of Kevin de Bruyne.

Now substitute has been reinvented as starter, Silva's latest sparkling display coming in Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham.

"He deserves to play all the minutes he plays".

"He can play there, because he can fight", Guardiola told reporters.

"In the beginning it was a little bit hard [for Bernardo Silva]", Guardiola added. He tended to cut in from the flank in his Monaco days and elaborated: "I can play either in the centre, wide, whatever the manager thinks is best for the team".

"He is skinny, small but wow ... he has that sense of intelligence", his manager added. It's not easy for us to match this level.

Silva has been at City since 2010 and claims his decision to move to the Etihad in the early stages of Sheikh Mansour's time at the helm was "one of the best decisions" of his life.

Vera, who's a member of the Shaare Hayim Sephardi community in Didsbury, said: "Pep said hello to me and I said thank you for all you've done for this team".

"He is doing well, once again he helped us and he's a fantastic player". It depends how I feel physically and mentally.

But the winger began to put all that behind him as he kick-started a strong performance by arriving in the right place to tap home from Fernandinho's cross. "We will always strive for more".

'When you play in a team like Manchester City where you have a lot of quality players, sometimes you just have to know that sometimes you won't start, but you have to keep working - that's what he does every day'. You have to adapt to your teammates, to the league, the referees, and obviously, I have a lot more confidence.

"He was an example and that is why I said that I don't know what will happen in the future but if I am here, this guy will stay here because he is special".

Guardiola said it is "almost impossible" to be more pleased with Silva's development than he is.

Both players had very different struggles despite City's success last season. Last year, the club became the only English club to get more than a 100 points in a season.

"It's not about "I don't like you anymore" or "I prefer this one or the other one" - it's not".

The Frenchman was initially thought to have been dropped as part of Guardiola's rotation policy, but he later confirmed Mendy's issue.
