"In the meantime, I hope Ms. Blasey Ford receives the respect and dignity to which she is entitled".

Two women who dated Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and who knew him in high school issued statements defending his character in response to an accusation of sexual misconduct.

She said Democrats, including Feinstein, had over 30 hours of hearings in which they could have mentioned the allegations.

"Judge Kavanaugh looks forward to a hearing where he can clear his name of this false allegation".

Mark Judge, who has been named as the third person in the room, told The Weekly Standard the allegations were "absolutely nuts".

"Scheduling a hearing for Monday, a week from when Dr. Ford made her accusations public, is a shameful attempt to jam this through without giving anyone the time they need to investigate and put together the questions that need to be asked", Murray said. Harry Reid (D) of Nevada, when he was Senate majority leader.

In those 1991 Supreme Court nomination hearings, Anita Hill accused Thomas, her former boss, of sexual harassment. How and why Ford went from wanting to preserve her anonymity to being willing to publicly talk about the incident isn't a process that should be chalked up simply to politics. The confirmation went ahead.

Several of the women continued their defense after Ford revealed her identity, but dozens of the signees did not return requests for comment from Politico. There shouldn't be a doubt, ' Trump said Tuesday. She said President George H.W. Bush had asked the FBI to investigate Anita Hill's allegations against Thomas. Republicans were eager to avoid images of Ford facing tough questioning from the all-male Republican membership of the Senate panel.

She and Maura Kane both dated Kavanaugh in the 1980s, when he was a student at the elite Georgetown Preparatory School outside Washington, D.C. He groped her and tried to pull off her clothes and a one-piece bathing suit - all while holding his hand over her mouth so she couldn't scream.

"He owes all of us an apology", she said. Hill had a witness who testified that she told her of the sexual harassment at the time.

She said that since going public with her allegation in the Washington Post on Sunday, Prof Ford has been trying to work out where her family are going to sleep at night. "Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday. I never saw Brett act that way". While Republican senators and some Democrats have criticized Feinstein for keeping quiet about the claims until last week, Leahy said he would not "second-guess" his successor.

"Her husband is a quiet guy, warm but quiet", said White, whose son has carpooled to school with the Fords. "I've been friends with Brett Kavanaugh for over 35 years, and dated him during high school". They do stupid stuff.

Referring to the attention that Blasey's allegation has received ― including Sen.

"The right forgives Trump because he promises to be faithful to their causes, if not faithful to his wife". Trump blasted Democrats, and in particular Sen. Democrats faced criticism for being timid in her defence.

Even Manley admits that Feinstein "should have broached this with others on the committee earlier".

How this all will play out in detail remains to be seen.

The ugly confirmation battle could shake up the forthcoming mid-term elections. "He stands ready to testify tomorrow if the Senate is ready to hear him", White House spokesman Raj Shah said in a statement Monday. Democrats will use Monday's hearing as a political spectacle to coax Mr. Kavanaugh into looking defensive or angry, and to portray Republicans as anti-women. While Chuck Grassley released a statement saying that it's "disturbing that these uncorroborated allegations" have been released just now, fact is, the allegations have actually been partially corroborated.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", she said. And yet, she decided she was willing to come forward and tell her story.

"Of course it helps that there are women on that committee, but you know what, I expect the men in this country and the men in this committee-and many of them, because believe me, we all signed onto this letter-to demand an FBI investigation", Hirono said. "I applaud Christine Blasey Ford for her courage in coming forward", he wrote.
