Kawhi Leonard: I Came To Raptors With An Open Mind

I came here with an open mind.

The Spurs said the decision rested with Leonard's camp, while Leonard reportedly believed San Antonio mishandled his recovery.

The 27-year old forward can leave Toronto as a free agent next summer, but for now he says he's just focusing on the year at hand. I want to do great things so I'm going to make sure I put in a full effort on the court each and every night.

Those were his first words spoken since he was traded from the Spurs to the Raptors, although he was quick to add, "Obviously, I love the game of basketball".

"[I was] excited knowing I'm coming to a great city that loves basketball", Leonard said of the trade.

Leonard can become an unrestricted National Basketball Association free agent next July, giving rise to concerns he'll just be a one-year rental for the Raptors.

During his six seasons in San Antonio, Leonard was a two-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to winning an NBA championship and NBA Finals MVP in 2014.

Asked whether he could see himself sitting out the season, Porzingis said, "It's hard to say".

"The narrative of not wanting to come to this city is gone", said Ujiri, who interjected into a question directed at Green and Leonard.

Leonard left the Spurs in the summer after his relationship with the front office and coach Gregg Popovich broke down over a right quad injury. "I can't give you a spiel about me". Check out more footage from the Raptors' Media Day in the tweets embedded below.
