England’s Luke Shaw Vows to Return on the Pitch Soon

United will be looking to build on the victory at Burnley just before the worldwide break when they take on the in-form Hornets, but could have to do it without Shaw and Rashford.

Chilwell replaces left-back Luke Shaw, who was ruled out of the Switzerland game after receiving a blow to the head in Saturday's UEFA Nations League loss to Spain.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is reportedly hesitant to sign a new contract with the Old Trafford club for now, despite being on course to become a free agent next summer.

The left-back needed significant medical attention on the pitch before eventually being carried off on a stretcher.

'All being well, he has a mandatory seven-day period that he has to serve with the concussion, but he should be back in the fold as soon as that's done'.

"He's had a minor strain but I think he should be fine for his club this weekend", Southgate said of Alli.

He has suffered lots of injuries in his young career, from a double fracture on his right leg to the broken foot and knee injuries...

After a superb start for Manchester United, Shaw was rewarded with a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Shaw has faced a lot of criticisms from Jose Mourinho earlier, but the United manager is now all in admiration for the youngster.

It was all the more unfortunate because his performance had been so good up until that point, setting up Marcus Rashford's opener, but Southgate did seem reassured by how the defender was after the game.

"Great contribution for the goal.to come into a game after so long out of the global scene is as tough a test as you can have".
