UAB Hospital again highly ranked by US News & World Report

It also topped the list of IL hospitals again, followed by Rush University Medical Center (second), Loyola University Medical Center (third) and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and University of Chicago Medical Center, the two of which tied for fourth. "This ensures the very best patient care today and in the future, helping make UCH one of the nation's best hospitals". The combined enterprise of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center was named to the prestigious Honor Roll list, and ranked as the #1 hospital in Pennsylvania, in the 2018-2019 annual survey by the magazine.

Loyola had six specialties that were ranked nationally. UNC is rated "high performing" in five adult specialties, like geriatrics and rheumatology, and in four procedures and conditions: colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, lung cancer surgery and heart failure. It also received a children's specialty ranking for its pediatric cardiology & heart surgery practice. Pennsylvania Hospital was ranked #6 in Philadelphia, #12 in the state, and was nationally ranked in Gynecology and Orthopedics. "These achievements are a direct result of the exceptional health care our nurses, physicians and employees provide our patients every single day". In addition to UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center, also part of UW Medicine, are the UW School of Medicine, UW Neighborhood Clinics, Valley Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Airlift Northwest and the UW Physicians practice group, the largest physician practice plan in the region. No Sacramento-area hospital was ranked below average in any category.


The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings are based largely or entirely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and re-admission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators. "The U.S. News and World Report honors are a validation of this quality care and our commitment to putting patients first, helping them get back to living their extraordinary lives".

All hospitals are evaluated but only the top 50 are ranked.


Likewise in ME, three of the states hospital received rankings based on the high standards by U.S. News. Founded in 1933, U.S. News is headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital repeated at No. 13 on the U.S. News & World Report's ranking of U.S. hospitals. UCH is also ranked among the nation's best in 11 specialties including No. 1 in pulmonology. UCSF was No. 6; Stanford Hospital, No. 9; UCLA Medical Center, No. 7; and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, No. 8.
