Spider-Man Sequel Will Bring An Avengers Star Back From The Dead

Cobie Smulders, who plays Fury's pal Maria Hill, will join Jackson in the sequel, Vulture also reports.

Details from Captain Marvel have been tight, other than the fact that the film will also star Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. Now we know a couple of former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are suiting up again to meet Spidey on the big screen for the first time.

Jackson dropped some serious hints last month that he's reprising his role as Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now it's semi-official. Besides that, you'll just have to wait until the sequel premieres in July of next year, or ask Tom Holland politely in any scenario whatsoever, at which point he will tell you the entire plot in great detail along with a few deeply personal secrets about himself.

Those who saw Avengers: Infinity War (everyone reading this, probably) already know that Spidey, Fury and Hill were among those dissolved and presumably killed by Thanos as the supervillain "rebalanced" the universe and destroyed half its population. The follow-up will feature Tom Holland's Peter Parker in his Junior year at Midtown School of Science and Technology following the events of 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and its summer 2019 sequel, which will also feature Holland as Spider-Man.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously confirmed the 2019 sequel will take Peter Parker out of NY for a European adventure in London that will reflect the global aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. One such recently discovered element - spotted, as always, by an eagle-eyed Redditor - has larger implications on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How all of this plays out onscreen is still anyone's guess, but if you dig Jackson as Fury, get ready to see a lot more of him.
