Souness: Mourinho is in a 'precarious' position at Manchester United

The pressure has piled on Mourinho following the defeat with United struggling defensively following a summer of discontent at Old Trafford. Brighton & Hove Albion are an organised side that play with bravery and intelligence at home, earning 29 points at the Falmers Stadium last season, and so a poor result for the visitors was always on the cards.

While a narrow win against Leicester got United off to a decent start, their 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday was simply bad. It takes rote learning on the training ground to create the passing angles that provide the illusion of creativity, something Mourinho has famously never done.

But with the transfer window closed, manager Jose Mourinho has no alternative to trying to draw on his experience and skill to get the best he can out of a team many believe lack the quality and character to be genuine title contenders.

"There is nothing wrong with being direct but this is Manchester United, arguably the biggest club in the world, playing football that was played by teams from a lower league 30 or 40 years ago", he added. "They have to go for it". Having worked under Louis Van Gaal as an assistant, Giggs held the interim manager position at United as well in 2014, but he would relish the chance to return as the leader for a club he played his whole career at. I follow these sports as much as I can, this explains why I write on a lot of different topics ranging from analysis and tactics to transfers and a whole lot more (reviews, previews and everything in between). It is possible, then, that United's players will quickly stop listening to Mourinho in the hope of ridding Old Trafford of its poisonous atmosphere.

"He is in a very hard place, isn't he?" Brighton had settled into the match and started to dictate terms.

The fall-out from Manchester City's "All Or Nothing" documentary continues with Graeme Souness sharing his thoughts on Jose Mourinho's comments about the Premier League champions lacking "class". Those fond memories carried forward so we believed we could win.

This was as good as it got for United all match.

"The current atmosphere doesn't benefit anyone", one source said.

"I like the idea of Zinedine Zidane, too". Anthony Martial, who came in for the injured Alexis Sanchez, drove into the box and unleashed a shot, signalling United's intent.

The other favourites are Mauricio Pochettino (13/2), Carlo Ancelotti (10/1), and Ryan Giggs (12/1).

With over 20 years experience in management, Carlo Ancelotti could potentially offer that old head needed at Old Trafford at the moment, but the one snag with the 59-year-old is that he is now in charge of Serie A side Napoli.

"Something is going to have to give somewhere along the line".
