Mourinho described Paul Pogba as "a monster" after the unsettled Frenchman responded to being captain with a dominant performance in United's 2-1 win.

'That's football management. I think football is changing. The style of play under Mourinho has not been easy to watch but he'll always say I don't care what style but we finished second in the league.

Mourinho warned it could be a "difficult season" if United did not bring in at least one more face, with centre-back the main focus in a market that was inflated by last summer's deals.

"It is hard for me to understand, we finish second which I keep saying, that I won eight championships and three Premier Leagues but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

'We have to wait for end of November, beginning of December to understand how things are going and if we can fight for the title.

"It's not too much at £50million because ultimately you've just got to get the players in".

Paul Pogba has set Manchester United fans thinking after a cryptic tweet today.

Yes, they went ahead inside the first three minutes through Paul Pogba's penalty, but what was important was the way they went after Leicester right from the off.

It was the first game back with United for Pogba after his World Cup-winning exploits, and he said it was challenge to find his form before eventually giving way to substitute Marouane Fellaini in the 84th minute. "I haven't won the Premier League, I haven't won the Champions League, I haven't won the European Championship so there are more to win".

Alderweireld was linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the transfer window. "Even tonight, I know I can be better and that is what I want to keep showing the manager". Just a few days ago FC Barcelona offered Man United more than € 100 million to pry him away from Old Trafford.

Mourinho said that he had no choice but to hand a start to Pogba after Ander Herrera's injury.

"I expect a better United than last season". But again, the perception of the people that reads can be different, but I like my players and my group.
