In a moment of synergy, the acquisition of the number nine is also Manuel Pellegrini's ninth summer signing for the Hammers, after several high profile additions including Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Andriy Yarmolenko.

West Ham have been looking for a new striker to bolster their attacking options and now look set to land Perez on a permanent deal.

Champions League hat-trick aside, Perez never got going for the Gunners after joining from Deportivo la Coruna for £17million, and will therefore undoubtedly retain "flop" statue forever more. But the Baggies are still hoping they can land the worldwide midfielder with the lure of playing in what could be a very exciting season as they battle for promotion back to the Premier League.

The Hammers found a unique way to announce the signing of Perez as they used their big screens at the London Stadium to unveil the player.

West Ham United have landed the signature of Colombia global Carlos Sanchez.

"I'm very happy to be here at such an historic club", Perez told West Ham's official website.

"He is a very experienced player that Manuel and I both know well from Spain".

"He has great technical quality, and can play as both the main striker or the second striker in a deeper role". He can also cover other positions but it is as a defensive midfielder that he really excels.

"I'm very happy to be here".

The Spaniard hasn't forgotten his former teammates as well as the love and support the fans showed him since his arrival at the Emirates two years ago and wished the club the best for the future.

West Ham opens the season with a tricky clash against Liverpool on August 12th at the London Stadium.
