England and India were left frustrated at Lord's with persistent rain wiping out the whole of day one of the second Test.

Meanwhile, the toss did not take place as Day 1 was washed off due to consistent drizzle.

Final delivery: Writer and broadcaster John Arlott (1914-1991) ends his final spell of commentary during the 1980 Centenary Test between England and Australia. Since 2014, Asian sides have won three and drawn two Tests at Lord's.

England held their nerves in the neck-and-neck first Test as India fell short of 31 runs.

Tendulkar was invited by officials at Lord's Cricket Ground to ring the iconic bell for the first time yesterday. His 4/40 in the second innings helped England take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Tendulkar, who played his first match against England at the Lord's, thereby missed an opportunity to join an elite list of Indian cricketers - Sunil Gavaskar, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev and Sourav Ganguly - who have had the honour of kick-starting proceedings at Lord's by ringing the bell. Skipper Virat Kohli was the lone Indian batsman who put up meaningful contributions with the bat.

If the leaked image turns out to be true, this will be the first time under Virat Kohli that India will be having the same playing XI in successive Tests.

England, according to the leaked sheet was going to play Chris Woakes in Ben Stokes absence and Ollie Pope as expected was going to make his debut.
