Leicestershire fire and rescue service shared the video on Facebook, saying: "While we were firefighting at Occupational Lane we witnessed a firenado or a fire whirl".

England isn't the only place spotting the fire whirls as of late: They have also reportedly been spotted among the wildfires in California recently.

Speaking while crews tackled the fire, the Derbyshire service's group manager Steve Wells said: "We've received lots of calls to our control room this morning, as people in the Swadlincote area have woken to the sight of a large black smoke plume".

Bosses at the factory, which makes the bread trays for the whole of the United Kingdom, said the outside storage unit had been "completely gutted" by the blaze, destroying more than 600,000 trays in the process.

Fire crews from Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Staffordshire responded to the fire at the Ravensbourn factory on Occupation Lane in Swadlincote.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire involved approximately 100 metres x 100 metres of stacked plastic pallets".

Ten fire engines from three counties spent 12 hours tackling the blaze which destroyed 600,000 plastic pallets. The outside storage has been lost.

'The main thing is that no-one was injured or burned. "Stock can be replaced whereas people can't", a spokesperson said.

The fire was put out without causing any injuries or deaths.
