James was interviewed by Lemon Monday, after James' foundation and the Akron (Ohio) Public Schools launched a new elementary school for at-risk children.

Trump resorted to childish name-calling in a Friday evening tweet in which he slammed the intelligence of both James and CNN anchor Don Lemon.

LeBron James hasn't responded to a shot about his intelligence from President Donald Trump, but his fellow National Basketball Association players took to Twitter to defend him.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request to clarify Trump's remarks. CNN took to Twitter to respond Saturday morning, referencing Melania Trump and suggesting that she decided the first couple's TV viewing Friday night.

Trump is traveling to OH on Saturday for a rally where he will campaign for state Sen.

In the interview, James said he "would never sit across" from Trump, though he would talk to former President Barack Obama.

He called Trump a "bum" last September after an invitation for the Golden State Warriors to come to the White House was rescinded.

In the same interview, James appeared to indicate that he was open to the possibility of running for president, a question that has provoked the president to attack other sports stars, actors, and political figures in the past.

During the interview, James was asked about Trump, and said that the president was "using sports to kinda divide us".

James had just opened a school for underprivileged children in Ohio. LeBron stated: "We are in a position right now in America where this race thing has taken over, one because I believe our president is kind of trying to divide us".

Utah Jazz star guard and noted good guy Donovan Mitchell thought Trump's tweet was a sign of insecurity. Lemon tweeted. "A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages?"

Whether that is actually Trump's intent or not, James' comments have quite a few agreements from fans. 45 insulted James after viewing his recent CNN interview with Don Lemon.
