He also was penalized for an uncontrollable tire and pushed to the back of the 40-car field. Prior to that, Jeff Gordon turned in an incredible streak of three consecutive seasons with the mark - 1996 (10 wins), 1997 (10 wins) and 1998 (13 wins). Kyle Larson has won three of the last four races at the track; aside from winning the first race of 2018 there, he also won both races in 2017.

"That was our only goal - we didn't want to learn anything, we don't want to do anything different, we just want to go out and we want to win". That experience and those attention to details of things that they do is second to none, and you see it week after week. "We were kind of in position that if something happened we could win the race". The June race victor, Clint Bowyer, is also 12-1.

Then together, father and son rode to Victory Lane in Harvick's winning No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Fusion, Keelan holding the flag out the passenger side door en route.

No one figured to be able to catch Harvick, meaning pretty much everyone was hoping for another yellow flag. We've got to find that little bit of performance. Last year, it went long just because I felt I deserved more. That was definitely way up there on the bucket list of things that you didn't expect. By lap 189, Harvick was back on top ahead of Dillon, who was too far away to mount a charge.

Larson swept both MI races previous year. He was able to make it around to finish fourth. Keselowski took second and Busch finished third, while Dillon had to settle for fourth.

Ryan Blaney was third, followed by Kurt Busch and Austin Dillon.

Denny Hamlin started the race from the pole in the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

Truex was running with the leaders during the second stage before running out of gas and going into the pits, which were closed. Harvick's teammate Clint Bowyer opted for an aggressive pit strategy as the rain was approaching and held off Harvick on a restart as the rain began to fall. We could've won the second stage.

STAGE 2: Harvick swept the first two stages bring his total to 12 this season.

The 2014 champion's successful year marched on as he extended his career-best six wins to a seventh as he scored the win in the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. That means two more chances for a new victor to make the playoffs with a victory - and potentially to knock out one of the drivers in line for a points berth. Ford is not only returning home to its global corporate offices in MI, the manufacturer is having a newsworthy week with the recent unveiling of the new Mustang for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series.

The XFINITY Series LTi Printing 250 is June 8 while the Gander Outdoors Truck Series Corrigan Oil 200 is scheduled for August 10.

Those playoff points carry over in each round of the playoffs, meaning the Big 3 drivers are well on their way to NASCAR's Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The past 10 winners above represent the second race of the year at Michigan International Speedway. It has been the love of NASCAR racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike for 50 years.
