It appears that Leighton Baines is on his way out at Everton, or in the swansong of his career there at the very least, but the former Barcelona left-back has not been on Merseyside for long and could be short of fitness to play the full match.

Everton have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Colombia defender Yerry Mina for 30.25m euros (£27.19m), while signing Mina's team-mate Andre Gomes on loan.

Barcelona confirmed defender Yerry Mina has signed for Everton.

The Brazil winger, a free agent having allowed his contract with Ukraine's champions to expire at the end of last season, signed a four-year contract at Goodison Park.

However, Tottenham have become the first Premier League club not to sign a player since transfer windows were introduced in 2003, with their primary target Jack Grealish remaining an Aston Villa player.

While Bernard was finalising his transfer at Everton's Finch Farm training ground a club delegation led by the director of football, Marcel Brands, concluded deals for Mina and Gomes in Barcelona.

He cited Marco Silva as a key reason behind leaving Catalonia for England and claimed that "everyone in Portugal" knows of the 41-year-old's "qualities" as a manager in his interview with Everton's site.

"The manager made me feel confident about playing here".

'I chose Everton because of all the things I'd heard about Marco Silva and because Everton is a club with a lot of tradition, ' Bernard told the club's official website.

Not only Gomes, but Everton have made a real late dash in the transfer window, and surprised many, not only with the number of signings but also the quality these players bring to the team.
