Pakistan's next prime minister in waiting Imran Khan on Tuesday appeared before the country's anti-corruption body for allegedly using the government's helicopters for personal visits, local media reported.

Imran said that people defeated the political elite in the July 25 polls.

The ECP's decision to withhold the results has jeopardised holding of election for next prime minister of the country, The News said. "Today, the first phase of a 22-year-long struggle is complete".

"Such independent candidate shall also submit an affidavit stating that he or she is joining a particular party voluntarily and without any coercion".

Qureshi denied that he has been selected by the party as the candidate for the election of the National Assembly speaker. The count for the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stood at 64 and 43 seats respectively.

On July 18, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman had asked for more time to appear before the NAB, citing unavailibility due to campaigning for general elections.

PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry hoped that PTI will get support from Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and its total numbers in the National Assembly would reach 177.

Despite Khan's explicit instructions and refusal to travel with an extended protocol, a number of cars and heavy security tagged along with him.

If we can not bring change then we will suffer the same fate as MMA and ANP, he warned, referring to the poor electoral show of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Awami National Party.

DawnNewsTV sources have also put Imran Ismail as a candidate to become the new Governor Sindh. Elections for these seats will be held within 60 days after newly-elected members of the national and provincial assemblies take oath.
