She made her allegations on United States television hours after the president had responded to a question about her book - "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House" - by saying: "Low life".

She also repeated her claim that there is footage of Trump using a racial slur during filming of The Apprentice. Pretty much every thing she writes about her former boss and race confirm what most black Americans already believe about the man who arguably built his political career on attacking the first black USA president.

She added: "This is his pattern with African-Americans". I never watched "The Apprentice", didn't care a whit about her brief career as a White House aide, didn't care that she got fired, don't care about her book, and now wish this transient nonentity would just go away.

Her revelations are now creating a stir for a reality-TV-star-studded West Wing but this episode's likely to end soon. She's playing members of the media and they are letting her do it to them, because tapes! She claims to have heard from someone who heard from me that I heard Trump use the N-word.

"They take me into the Situation Room, the doors are locked, they tell me I can't leave and they start to threaten me, put fear in me, to put me under duress", she said. "I didn't know it".

But Manigault Newman countered that it was not acceptable for four men to take a woman into a room for almost two hours, not allow her to leave and not let her talk to her husband or attorney. It was later reported that she was actually fired from her position.

Either Manigault-Newman did not record the conversation in its entirety or she gave NBC just a short clip. "Wacky" and "nasty" were words Mr Trump used to describe her.

The short audio aired ahead of a "Today" show interview with Newman on Monday, part of a publicity tour for Tuesday's release of her book about her time at the White House, Unhinged.

"What I can tell you is the thought of doing something like that to a fellow employee, not to mention the leader of the free world, is completely disgraceful", he said.

"What time do you need to go? What happened?" the voice asks Manigault Newman. "This is a non-negotiable discussion".

On Sunday, Manigault Newman told NBC's "Meet the Press" that she surreptitiously recorded a number of conversations in the White House for her own protection.

"The president lies to the American people, [White House press secretary] Sarah Huckabee [Sanders] stands in front of the country and lies every single day".

Ms Newman justified her action by saying that she had felt the need to protect herself. When you walk into a meeting with John Kelly, who has refused to meet with me the whole time he's there, in the Situation Room, Chuck.

"Who in their right mind thinks it's appropriate to secretly record the White House chief of staff in the Situation Room?"

She alleged that other people have been treated the same way by Kelly, and she voted to blow the whistle on corruption she saw in the House House. He then offers to make it a "friendly departure" and said that she violated some "very serious legal issues" without elaborating on what those were. "What kind of ingratitude is this?"
