Adm. McRaven: Revoke My Security Clearance Too

In a statement read out Wednesday by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, Trump said he was revoking Brennan's security clearance because of his "erratic behavior" in recent weeks.

"I applaud President Trump for his revoking of John Brennan's security clearance". Most recently, she has claimed that a tape exists in which Trump uses the N-word.

In his article on Thursday, Brennan claimed that the question was not if collusion took place, but whether it "constituted criminally liable conspiracy, whether obstruction of justice occurred to cover up any collusion or conspiracy, and how many members of "Trump Incorporated" had "attempted to defraud the government by laundering and concealing the movement of money into their pockets".

Security clearances for those who still have them may be revoked, and those who have already lost their security clearance may not be able to have it reinstated".

"I call it the rigged witch hunt", the President complained in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, "and these people [the intelligence community] led it".

He added: "So I think it's something that had to be done".

Brennan, now a commentator for NBC and MSNBC, has been a persistent Trump critic and defender of the USA intelligence community's conclusion that Russian Federation attempted to influence the 2016 presidential election to favor him.

Writing in The Washington Post, William H. McRaven said he would "consider it an honour" if Trump would revoke his clearance, as well. "A good leader always puts the welfare of others before himself or herself", but "through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation", he wrote.

Trump also admitted there was a link between stripping Brennan of his security clearance and the special counsel investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

The initial White House statement about Brennan's clearance made no reference to the Russian Federation investigation.

Former high-ranking officials typically retain their security clearance when they leave office so their successors can consult with them on sensitive issues. Brennan and the others have criticized the Republican president. "I don't know why they give them security clearances anyway other than maybe a transition period", Shelby added.

"I think it is pretty clear this is a president who goes out of his way to punish his political adversaries". Trump said he is reviewing security clearances for the eight individuals pictured.

There was no reference to the Russian Federation probe in a White House statement Wednesday that was read at a press briefing and then sent out to reporters.
