U.S. launches campaign to pile pressure on Iranian leaders

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday warned the USA against taking aggressive action that could lead to war with Iran.

Speaking in an address on state television in Iran, Rouhani said Iranians must stand together to withstand any and all pressure from the United States, according to Reuters.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that no country in the region will export oil if Iran's exports are stopped.

"You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran's security and interests", Rouhani said in reference to those measures.

The White House declined to comment on the campaign, Reuters said.

Oil-rich Iran has been seeking a way out of an economic crisis with its currency losing value rapidly as concern has grown about sanctions after the US backed out of a multilateral agreement with Iran in May.

"The current U.S. president does not talk about war, however, there are credible information based on which he has attempted to force the U.S. Army to carry out military attack on Iran during the past year", Baqeri told a meeting.

The drive, supported by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton, has intensified since Trump withdrew on 8 May from a 2015 seven-nation deal to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Washington has also been accused of posting propaganda on social media aimed at stirring up unrest in Iran.

"We know we are driving Iran to make some hard choices".

Originally Trump demanded all other countries to stop buying its crude by November but now he says the United States may grant waivers to some allies heavily particularly reliant on Iranian supplies.

Iranian officials have in the past threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping route, in retaliation for any hostile United States action.

"This is also the case with the [United Arab] Emirates and Bahrain, and under the new circumstances, we are seeking to reform our relations with these countries", he added. "America must understand well that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars".

Zarif said Iranian diplomats, by negotiating the nuclear deal, dealt a serious blow to what he called Israel's spreading of Iranophobia.
