A number of other retailers, from Target to Urban Outfitters, are offering their own deals during Prime Day.

Amazon's own online shopping holiday - Prime Day - was off to a rocky start when some shoppers found problems using the website when the hyped-up sales were supposed to begin.

MORE COUNTRIES: Amazon has been expanding its Prime membership around the world, and four new countries will be part of Prime Day this year: Australia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Singapore. Almost every device Amazon makes is now available at a deep discount, and you'll find every single one of them below.

"In the early going, you're seeing a lot of deals for Amazon-branded and Alexa-connected products, and the discounts are compelling".

Despite technical issues in the US, Feedvisor claims Amazon post a 89% jump in spending during the first 12 hours of its global Prime Day sale.

Toshiba's 43-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV has now seen a big price drop thanks to Amazon Prime Day.

Prime Day stretches for 36 hours this year, ending at midnight.

Amazon did not offer an explanation for what caused the Monday issues.

"Yesterday shows that even Amazon isn't immune and regardless of the retailer, discounts alone aren't enough and without a seamless, enjoyable experience, the consumer will go elsewhere", said Robin Copland, vice president at marketing firm Huge, which partners with retailers.

Amazon also released a list of the top sellers so far this year, which included the Fire TV Stick, Echo Dot, Fire 7 tablet, the Instant Pot 6 Qt, and LifeStraw Personal Water Filter.

eBay is running a sitewide flash sale today and is taking a jab at Amazon Prime in the process.

But by June this year, Amazon had narrowed the gap significantly in these areas, according to research from Starcom.

Past year millions of shoppers signed up for Prime membership on Prime Day, helping to increase the total number of Prime subscribers to over 100 million as of April 2018.

Despite some early glitches stalling some Prime members' shopping, Amazon announced Wednesday that its annual event was a huge hit-in fact it was the company's biggest shopping event yet.
