Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest: Time, livestream, how to watch

Over on the ladies side of the competition, former three-time champion Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas will take on four-time defending champion Miki Sudo.

Since 1972, thousands of curious onlookers have gathered at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, New York to witness the gastronomical feat known as the annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. There was some confusion regarding how many hot dogs Chestnut ate because one plate wasn't counted. "And then once I feel like the food has moved and digested, I'll have one good day of protein, whether it's fish or turkey, maybe chicken".

New Jersey native Carmen Cincotti finished second by eating 64 hot dogs.

Shea is now uncertain about what type of technology can be used to tally hot dogs and buns. Eating's elite gather each year to see how many hot dogs they can stomach in 10 minutes. Chestnut won his 11th title in the last 12 years, and established a new personal best after demolishing 74 dogs. Chestnut came back the next year and hit 70-dog mark. According to the MLE there is $40,000 in total prize money split between the men's and women's groups.

Fans took to social media networks to share their congratulations and praise to Joey Chestnut who has solidified his status as a competitive eating celebrity.
