The sisters-in-law will spend the day courtside, first watching the culmination of the men's semi-finals between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, and later cheering on Meghan's close friend Serena Williams in her women's finals match against Angelique Kerber.

It is the 30-year-old Kerber's third Grand Slam title.

Germany's Angelique Kerber poses with the winner's trophy, the Venus Rosewater Dish, after her women's singles final victory over U.S. player Serena Williams.

The Duchesses were there, and so was Tiger Woods, but no matter who Serena Williams had in her corner she could not complete a remarkable comeback with victory at Wimbledon.

She's been wearing compression leggings during her matches as a precaution and says she remains nervous.

"It's just a dream come true again" said Kerber during the trophy ceremony.

An emotional Williams was nearly crying at the end in her first Wimbledon campaign since giving birth to daughter Olympia.

"I nearly didn't make it to be honest", Williams said Thursday - after her semifinal win against Julia Goerges - of her post-delivery complications.

Contesting her first major singles final of the season and second at the All England Club, Kerber hardly put a foot wrong as she prevailed in 65 minutes.

The world number 10, known for her returning prowess, will be hoping to engage Serena in long rallies in a bid to tire the veteran.

The pair, who are playing each other for the 53rd time, will have to finish their match on centre court, with the roof closed to replicate the starting conditions, before Williams can face her German rival. You could see it in her body language, she really settled in.

Kerber started off strong in the first set, getting out to a 2-0 lead, but Williams came back to lead 3-2.

Kerber is the player photographed this week humbly taking the bus home after eating out - not only does she take the bus, she can park it too.

"But as I said in the past couple years, I don't want to limit myself".
