It's finally official. Manny Machado has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Jayson Stark of The Athletic, there Orioles have a "handshake agreement" with another team regarding a deal involving Machado.

Baltimore has had extensive talks with the Philadelphia Phillies, who now employ a number of former Orioles executives who were involved in drafting and developing Machado. Between the Stark report on Monday and the reports that emerged early Tuesday morning, the chips feel to be falling in Philadelphia's favor.

Personally, I never wanted to give up a major haul of prospects for a rental, but this situation feels different considering the type of player the Phillies would be adding to their first place ballclub.

Machado, when interviewed while in Washington for the All-Star Game, said he'd prefer for the deal to be done sooner rather than later.

Corey Seager is out for the season after Tommy John surgery, which has left a void for the Dodgers at shortstop.

Machado has been dealing with constant trade rumors since the start of spring training.

What we know is that the Dodgers will be sending back Yusniel Diaz - the young outfield prospect who homered twice in the Futures Game on Sunday.

"The only thing I've ever known has been the Orioles organization", he said.

The Orioles also signed free agent starting pitchers Andrew Cashner and Alex Cobb to two and four-year deals before the start of this season to try and piece together an improved pitching unit from last year.

"I'm going to go out there, enjoy myself, keep playing".

"It's the worst", Machado said.
