The interior ministry has already placed their names on the Exit Control List.

"No matter how much you try to cover it, people know the reality", Maryam said while talking to reporters in London.

All three family members, according to sources, have given their power of attorney to Khawaja Haris - Nawaz's counsel during the over-nine-month trial in the accountability court - who will file the appeals today.

The Pakistan government placed ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on the exit control list (ECL) to prevent them from flying overseas after they return to the country from London on Friday.

Maryam confirmed to the media in London on Sunday that her father and she would land in Lahore on July 13.

While they will not face any difficulty in coming to Pakistan, they are expected to be arrested during the immigration process at the airport as per standard procedure for all those placed on the ECL, Geo TV reported. "We will make sure that Sharif and Maryam do not leave the airport and are arrested there", he said.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and his daughter earlier announced to surrender to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on their return to the country on Friday following the Avenfield verdict.

Fearing lack of response from the general public upon their arrival in Pakistan, the Sharifs have made a decision to land in Lahore, as the PML-N is eyeing support of state machineries in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure public attendance, according to a report in The Express Tribune. Both were also ordered to pay hefty fines, while retired captain Safdar who is now under arrest, was sentenced to one year imprisonment. Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurenzeb said Sharif and Maryam will arrive in Lahore on Friday via Abu Dhabi on a foreign airline.
