Daniel Cormier vs Brock Lesnar can not happen until 2019

- The UFC is going full-steam ahead with plans of putting Brock Lesnar and Daniel Cormier together inside the Octagon.

It all started at the end of Saturday's extraordinary UFC 226 event at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, near Las Vegas.

UFC president Dana White said Lesnar will be Cormier's first title defense as a heavyweight champion but did not confirm a date.

The crowd roared as the former heavyweight champ made his way to the cage and shoved history-maker Cormier, security and Joe Rogan restraining the Beast Incarnate from getting even more physical with the two-weight champion. "Brock Lesnar, get your ass in here!" Lesnar is now in the WWE where he is the WWE universal champion. "Of course it's great to get the opportunity to find out whether you're better than another champion, because I respect Daniel a lot, and I know he respects me". That's like the Stone Age.

"I hold all the cards", Cormier said late Saturday night.

Where this leaves WWE is anyone's guess, though the company obviously needs to get their Universal Title off of him (which has actually been the case for months given Lesnar's lack of a presence on WWE television).

The fight barely over, Cormier began promoting the next.

White said "Yes", on Thursday when asked by Yahoo Sports if he expected Lesnar to return.

"I was crying in this Octagon nearly a year ago to the day", Cormier said.

White confirmed he'll book Cormier against Lesnar as soon as Lesnar has completed the requisite drug testing, but Cormier said he would like to defend his 205-pound title later this year before fighting Lesnar.

Lesnar has not fought since beating Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in July 2016, after which he subsequently failing a doping test and was suspended for a year. "I just want to go home".

What did you guys think of the fight and DC's performance?

All this means Lesnar can not make his comeback against Cormier until the end of January at the very earliest, assuming Lesnar re-enters the USADA this month. Anthony Pettis was back to his old, impressive self at UFC 226.

"Yeah, we're definitely going to make that fight", White said about Cormier vs. Lesnar.
