Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic won scores of admirers on Twitter as she embraced Croatia's players following the 4-2 defeat to France in Moscow yesterday.

Paris - With the golden World Cup trophy in hand, France's victorious national team returned home to a grand "Merci!" from a grateful nation that was sorely in need of a boost. The violence that ultimately ensued forced the store to push back the official release of the product to Tuesday.

Among the changes, station Victor Hugo became "Victor Hugo Lloris", named after the team's captain and goalkeeper, whose second half mistake gave Croatia faint hopes of a late comeback.

"We can surely be proud of how we organised this tournament", Putin said in televised comments after France's victory against Croatia yesterday. Grabar-Kitarovic thanked Putin for what she said was the successful organisation of the competition.

France's victorious World Cup players will all be awarded the Legion of Honour, the office of President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday ahead of their evening visit to the Elysee Palace.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic has presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a Croatian national team jersey in red and white with the number 9 and the name Putin written on it.

He added: "Staging the 2022 World Cup in our country is a really important event in the history of Qatar".

The first came back in 1998 - Didier Deschamps, who is now the head coach, was a squad player at the time.

"Only Putin gets an umbrella", Piers Morgan tweeted.

Grabar-Kitarovic chose to don the checkered red-and-white jersey throughout the tournament and missed just one match for good reason-the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

But Rakitic believes improvements can still be made to the system that was being used in the World Cup for the first time. "I am sure everyone liked the way they played, and so did I".

However, this fact does not answer the question: if poison the President of the Russian Federation for the personal umbrella in the finals of the world Cup?
