WWE did not get any of the Emmy nominations they were gunning for.

Although season seven of Game of Thrones aired in summer 2017, due to the Emmys' eligibility cutoff, the HBO drama had to wait until this year to submit anything for consideration.

Donald Glover's "Atlanta" was the top comedy nominee with 16 bids, poised to take advantage of this year's absence of three-time victor "Veep". These shows and performances absolutely deserved a little recognition. "Atlanta" will face newcomers including "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", "GLOW" and "Barry". The actor who portrays Paper Boi, Brian Tyree Henry, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series and Zazie Beetz, who plays Van on the show, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series. She added a postscript: "I think my mother at this moment may actually be satisfied". "We are pleased to have these two talented performers join us to announce this year's Emmy nominees and to celebrate television excellence". Only one nominations category is all-white, and in three categories minority actors account for more than half the nominees.

The 70th Emmys ceremony will take place in September and be hosted by comedians Colin Jost and Michael Che.

Moss was nominated for best actress in a drama series for The Handmaid's Tale, with Strahovski's nomination coming in the supporting actress category.

Lead actor in a drama series: Jason Bateman (Ozark); Sterling K Brown (This Is Us); Ed Harris (Westworld); Matthew Rhys (The Americans); Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us); and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld). He is nominated for best lead actor in a comedy series for playing the title role as a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest who falls in love with acting while on a job in Los Angeles.
