Amazon's Prime Day Launch Experienced Some Technical Problems

In 2017, Prime Day "really got a lot more particular internationally", Olsavsky told analysts last October.

The global company that sells everything (except decaf Nescafe Azera - sort it out, lads) started giving intermittent 404 messages at the start of the U.S. sale saying "something went wrong at our end". Maybe most frustrating, some users report being unable to actually add items to their basket, even if they can get the product page to load in the first place. A company spokesman didn't immediately respond to an e-mail.

Amazon's Prime Day, the Black Friday for digitally savvy shoppers, kicks off July 16 at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT) and lasts 36 hours, giving click-happy buyers a decent amount of time to snag all those insane deals on appliances, tech toys and so much more.

Amazon's Prime Day Launch Experienced Some Technical Problems

An afternoon recap of the day's most important business news, delivered weekdays.

This sort of a glitch won't boost satisfaction levels for Prime Members, who tend to shop Amazon more frequently than non-members (75% make purchases two or three times a month, according to RBC's survey) and are more loyal customers. Four new countries will be part of Prime Day this year: Australia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Singapore. Shoppers will have plenty of sales to choose from as other retailers offer promotions to try to take a share of the spending. Many are shopping successfully - in the first hour of Prime Day in the USA, customers have ordered more items compared to the first hour previous year. Online furniture seller Wayfair introduced Way Day in April, becoming its biggest revenue day ever.

Problems were also reported at Amazon's other sites across the world, including Europe. Amazon might give us a taste in the Prime Day 2018 sales event of such a Nintendo Switch bundle. The membership costs $12.99-per-month and can be canceled at any time.

At the time of writing, the below are pending prime day deals yet to be activated - Amazon Prime Day kicks off at 3pm EST.

"Way to go,".

Amazon is gearing up for its annual Prime Day on July 16, but getting a deal that matches Black Friday prices isn't a certainty.

"The message is clear: while the online giant gets rich, it's saving money on the health of its workers", Stefanie Nutzenberger, union representative, said in a release. Amazon Prime Day 2018 began at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Sales hit $1.5 billion, according to Coresight's estimate.

But in Europe, where unionization is more widespread, labor unions have been on the front lines of calling for workers' rights at the company's warehouse facilities, where physical demands can be grueling and temperatures can reach extremes.

Shoppers found an outlet in venting on social media.
