Alisson: Liverpool sign Brazil goalkeeper from Roma

The Brazilian has signed a six-year deal at Anfield and becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in history by doing so.

Liverpool FC have already been busy in the summer transfer window, with the Reds having brought in midfielders Fabinho and Naby Keita, as well as attacker Xherdan Shaqiri.

The deal, of course, is a world record fee for a goalkeeper, eclipsing the €53m paid by Juventus for Gianluigi Buffon way back in 2001 and the £35m paid by Manchester City for Alisson's compatriot Ederson last summer.

He is expected to cost Liverpool €75m (£67m).

Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been linked with the 25-year-old.

Reports earlier on Wednesday claimed that Alisson has agreed a €5.5m-per-season contract with Liverpool.

The Premier League star has been exceptional during Russian Federation 2018 for his nation and it looks like he may finally get his move to the La Liga. "In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family".

"You can be certain that I'll give my all". Klopp told the club's website.

"Since we started the pre-season - people have obviously never been in a hard situation so they think it's amusing to make some noise at the moment when he touches the ball or catches the ball and stuff like that, but that's how it is".

However, Klopp dismissed concerns over Alisson's price, citing the realities of the market.

'We were not too bad a year ago but we had to improve and we tried that on the transfer market.

Liverpool are desperate to sign a new goalkeeper to replace Loris Karius following his calamitous Champions League final performance.

"I will say that a club never acts to damage itself, as every move is made to improve the team overall".

Liverpool will this weekend fly to the United States where they will play three games in the International Champions Cup.
