A lot of Clevelanders are buying LeBron James' Lakers jersey

The Lakers can offer top money plus talent and draft picks in order to surround James with competitive players enough to challenge the Warriors, who suddenly must contend with James as a Pacific division rival rather than a foe to be faced only twice a season and for the National Basketball Association title.

James is joining a Lakers team that hasn't made the playoffs or had a winning record in five seasons.

After taking some instant action on the Lakers, the Westgate moved their odds to 7-2, which is tied with the Boston Celtics for the second choice behind the Golden State Warriors, the minus-110 favorite to repeat as champs.

The Lakers have finally secured their big National Basketball Association free agency fish, signing LeBron James to a four-year max contract on Sunday night.

The Spurs have repeatedly stated they do not want to trade the All Star forward to a Western Conference team, but last week league sources quoted by ESPN suggested a huge offer from the Lakers could convince San Antonio to allow Leonard to leave.

The remaining James jerseys at the team store at Quicken Loans Arena also are being cleared out.

The 33-year-old has signed a four-year, £116m ($153m) deal. It appeared as if the New Orleans Pelicans' superstar DeMarcus Cousins was going to sign with the Lakers as well, until he signed a one-year deal with the Warriors. "#TheKingIsHere", point guard Ball tweeted after the news broke.

Kawhi Leonard has been the biggest rumored target for the Lakers to play next to James, but Los Angeles will need to fork over quite a bit in order to pry him away from the Spurs.

James also played a supporting role on-screen in 2015 Amy Schumer comedy "Trainwreck". With his own production company SpringHill Entertainment, James' projects include a remake of "House Party". But it's the mystique of the LeBron James brand that's suddenly skyrocketed L.A. ticket demand in the wake of King James' move to the West Coast.

Ticket seller StubHub on Tuesday said visits to the Lakers ticket page were up 7,398 percent over the same date past year even though next season's schedule has yet to be announced.
